Tsunami in the Indian Ocean

Women around what appears to be the trace of a rupture. These women curiously give shape to the Indian Ocean with their attitudes of concern, anxiety, desire to fight and resignation.

It all sounds quite normal, but what’s curious is that it was painted in Berlin at the time when the tsunami happened in 2006. I spent the night painting it and then I heard the news of the disaster the next morning as I was having breakfast.
